Analyzing prices reached at auction today on Christie’s you can draw the conclusion that it was not a great day for Angel Botello, Arnaldo Roche and Francisco Rodon. Olga Albizu lot 127 sold for $32,500 from a estimate of $30,000 to $40,000 in overall not a bad hammer price.
Francisco Rodon had his first “passed lot” at auction, not reaching the reserve price for his painting {Ropas Al Sol} with an estimate of $60,000-$80,000.
Arnaldo Roche Rabell had 2 painting available with one not reaching the reserve price and the second painting selling over the estimated price of $25,000.00 with a final hammer price of $31,250 dollars for a 78 in x 78 in. Is a good thing that the painting overcome and surpass the estimated price assigned by Christie’s but still we need to keep in mind that this work of art was a colossal painting selling for just $31,250 including the buyer’s premium.
Angel Botello had mixed result with the 5 lot available at Christie’s. ALL lots were sold tonight which was a positive outcome, but is not a cheerful event when a 36 in x 48 sell for less than $24,000 at New York when Christie’s had appointed a high estimate of $40,000 dollars, specially for an artist like Angel Botello.
Another Example of a great buy was the painting “Two Girls” measuring 22 x 18 in.for $8,750 dollars including the buyer’s premium since it was assigned an estimate of $10,000 up to $15,000.
